I had a great post put together and then it got lost. Bleh.
ReplyDeleteGeneral points:
1) It was not illegal for Nephi to kill Laban under the Mosaic law. Laban had been delivered into Nephi's hands, he had tried to kill Nephi and he had taken Nephi's family's property, as stated in 1 Nephi 4:11. Exodus 21:12-16 shows that those are permissible grounds for Nephi to do what he did.
2) I don't know why we had to sit through a lesson on mothers teaching in the home, either. Maybe because we're a PRE-MARRIAGE STAKE?! *barf* Don't get me started on how I abhor that distinction.
3) Ever seen "The Fourth Wise Man" with Martin Sheen?
4) No, Hong Kong doesn't count. They don't speak the same kind of Chinese as mainland China and the Church is mainly there to provide a temple for the people in SE Asia who don't have access to the one in the Philippines.
