Rodcast 144: Laaaaaate

The below times may be off just a bit because of the into that says what I'm about to say anyway. We actually recorded this a month and a bit ago. It's been stuck on my broken computer, but I took the file off and am now posting it from my old, but not broken, computer. The stuff we talk about is old news, but maybe it'll be a fun listen.

0:00 -- Yakking about doing Rodcast longer than we thought we would
3:30 -- Minutes

  1. You all are pretty terrible at predicting how long the Rodcast will last. Let is last as long as it lasts.

We went over a lot of good Proverbs and Psalms in our lesson a few weeks ago. Here are a few we went over

"22 A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones."
"19 It is better to dwell in the wilderness, than with a contentious and an angry woman."
"7 For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart is not with thee."

...and this one is similar to advice from Captain Spock in "The Undiscovered Country"
10 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding."

I've always liked the portrayal of the spirit world in the movie Ghost. It shows how people can have some interactions with the spirit world, but they have to be "in tune" or ready to receive the revelation.

  2. Oh, the worst thing about Jon's computer being down, is the lack of a new creative album artwork. I always appreciate the humorous pictures you come up with.

  3. Thought you guys had given up a month ago. Glad to have you back. Hope the computer problem gets resolved soon so we can have more frequent contact from you guys.

Crimson tide? I prefer to call it the 'red menace'. hahaha

We were in a ward in Hurricane last Sunday where it seemed like every male was wearing a white shirt. Amazing. Encouraging. So nice to see men outwardly honoring and respecting their priesthood like that. You and I can be white shirt Nazis together, Jn.

"Yoke this!" was the best quote of the hour. Nice job again, Jn.

"Where is the spirit world? It is right here...Do [spirits of the departed] go beyond the boundaries of the organized earth? No, they do not...Can you see it with your natural eyes? No. Can you see spirits in this room? No. Suppose the Lord should touch your eyes that you might see, could you then see the spirits? Yes, as plainly as you now see bodies."
--Brigham Young in Discourses of Brigham Young, John A. Widtsoe, p. 577

There. You have it on pretty good authority that the spirit world does occupy our world, but we just can't see it.

Since we probably won't be hearing from you again until the holidays, Happy Halloween and Thanksgiving in the meantime!

    [End]
