Rodcast 34: Thankamony

Rhett's word this week: evangical.

This week we continued with a discussion of Ezekiel and then went into full on thankamony mode. If you're grateful for anything, feel free to share. All positivity will be gone by the time we get to the year-end airing of grievances.

If you're curious, here's my list of 100 things I need to do in this life.

  1. Pete – why would you never do family history? Is this one of those things that you are just waiting for a wife to do for you?

Rhett – Start going to the temple once a week, please.
Your downtown winter adventure was three years ago- I was still in SLC

Jon – I have never laughed directly at you, I would only laugh because you were being really funny and trying to make me laugh. Listeners who don’t know me - I am a nice person, I promise. Sometimes Jon has a different memory than me.

Wait…..lies. That one time you were running and slipped on the ice outside of the seminary building after ward prayer and fell in the snow. I have never laughed so hard in my life. EVER. Ahhhh…good times…..

Now that I think about it – all you boys need to go to the temple once a week. Get on it.
I know my life has changed and my overall attitude since I’ve worked at the temple for the past two years.

    Cheers to second chances, Rhett.

Miss and love you guys. See you in a few weeks.

  2. I dare you guys to clap along to the hymns in sacrament meeting some Sunday and then "return and report".

Every week for nine weeks is NOT a lot, Rhett. I agree with Maria...we're here in SL (she's in NYC, but same deal)...we have no excuse not to go every week now and not just reflect on the time we went that often in the MTC (since I was in the MTC as long as you were and went as often as you did). I've gone every week, with few exceptions, for a long time...definitely more than a year. Just make the time and do it. A very real difference-maker, I promise.

Regarding the actual river flowing from the temple in Jerusalem...I used this quote when I taught this lesson a couple weeks ago:

"Judah must return, Jerusalem must be rebuilt, and the temple, and water come out from under the temple, and the waters of the Dead Sea be healed. It will take some time to rebuild the walls of the city and the temple, Etc.; and all this must be done before the Son of Man will make his appearance" (Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, Section Six 1843–44, p.286)

According to the Wikipedia article about the Jordan River in Utah, the river starts in Utah Lake and empties into the Great Salt Lake. So, there you go.

By the way, Jon, I saw the ad for the new TRON movie last night...totally made me think of you. No one else I know cares one iota it's coming. ;)

I wrote an entire blog post on "It's a Wonderful Life", with many gospel concepts contained therein. It is one of my top three all-time fave movies...if you'd like to read the blog post, let me know. I think it would have great applicability to the movie discussion, if you end up having it.

    [End]
